Is this a TGA-listed sunscreen?
This is a cosmetic moisturiser containing 15% non-micronised zinc oxide. It provides mineral barrier support for everyday sun exposure but is not intended as a replacement for high-SPF beach sunscreen.

Where is your tallow sourced from?
Our tallow is sourced from Gingin Beef, a trusted farm in Western Australia. The cattle are 100% grass-fed and finished, ensuring the highest quality tallow with superior nutrient density.

How are the infused oils made?
The infused oils in our Whipped Tallow Cream+ are lovingly handcrafted in small batches using traditional methods. Botanicals like calendula and licorice are slowly infused into the carrier oils to ensure maximum potency and quality.

Why use zinc oxide for sun protection?
Zinc oxide is a physical sunscreen agent that reflects UV rays off the skin, making it a safer, non-toxic alternative to chemical sunscreens.

Does the zinc cause a white tinge on the skin?
Yes, the percentage of zinc oxide used in this formulation to achieve a minimum SPF 15 can leave a slight white cast on the skin. This is a trademark of zinc oxide and contributes to its effectiveness. If this is a concern, we recommend trying a sample or using our original Whipped Tallow Cream.

What is the texture of the cream like?
The cream has a luxurious, mousse-like texture that melts effortlessly into the skin.

Is this product safe for babies?
Yes, the natural formulation is safe for babies and sensitive skin. However, we always recommend patch-testing on new skin before full application.

Is this suitable for dry skin?
This cream may not be ideal for those prone to very dry skin due to the slight drying effect of zinc oxide. If needed, pair it with a hydrating serum or Tallow Face Cream | Light.

Is this suitable for oily skin?
Yes! Tallow is non-comedogenic and helps balance the skin’s natural oils, while zinc oxide calms and mattifies oily skin types.

Is it safe for acne-prone skin?
Yes, tallow’s composition closely mimics the skin’s natural oils, helping balance sebum production and reduce inflammation, which makes it suitable for acne-prone skin. Additionally, zinc, licorice, kawakawa and calendula all have anti-inflammatory properties.

Can I use this under makeup?
Absolutely! This cream provides a smooth base for makeup while offering hydration and SPF 15 protection.

Does it smell like beef?
No! While tallow is derived from beef fat, it is carefully rendered to remove strong odours. The cream has a mild scent, enhanced by the refreshing touch of essential oils.

Is the cream greasy?
No, despite its richness, the cream absorbs beautifully into the skin without leaving a heavy, greasy residue.

How should I store the cream?
Store the cream in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. If it softens in high heat, simply pop it in the fridge for a while to firm it up.

Is your tallow cream cruelty-free?
Absolutely. We source our tallow from ethical farms that adhere to humane and sustainable practices.

Does Gingin farm use Bovaer or other additives to reduce methane emissions?
No, Gingin Beef does not use Bovaer or any other additives. Their approach focuses on natural, regenerative farming practices to maintain the integrity of their 100% grass-fed and finished beef.

Why does the texture change with temperature?
Since we use only natural ingredients without synthetic stabilizers, the texture of the cream can change depending on the environment:

In warm conditions, it may soften slightly or melt.
In cooler temperatures, it may firm up but will still spread easily when warmed between your hands.

We do our best to reduce waste and minimise our environmental impact. Where possible, your order may be packed using reused or recycled packaging materials, which means you might receive your delivery in a box or parcel with other branding. Rest assured, your products inside are fresh, safe, and carefully packed—thank you for supporting our sustainability efforts!

Processing time:

We aim to carefully package and ship your order within 2 business days. You will be notified as soon as your order has been processed and shipped!

Delivery delays can sometimes occur, these are beyond our control, and we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Orders with presale items will be shipped together, we aim to keep the ETA up to date on the relevant product pages; however, as above, delivery delays can occur and are out of our control.

Local Delivery:

Local delivery is available within 10km. To find out if your address qualifies and the delivery fee, please proceed to checkout.

For deliveries within 3 km: Delivery is free and will generally be completed on the same day if the order is placed before midday.
For deliveries greater than 3 km: Deliveries will be made on Mondays & Tuesdays, within 5 business days.

Please note, we generally do not offer weekend deliveries.

Free local pickup:

Free local pickup is available Monday through Friday. You will receive an email once your order is ready for pickup, usually within 4 business hours. Please select a time slot and respond to the email.

Weekend pickup can be pre-arranged. Please contact us when placing your order to schedule a time.

Perth Metro courier delivery is available for street addresses only within the Perth metropolitan area.

Perth Metro boundaries extend from Alkimos in the north to Mandurah in the south. Eastern suburb boundaries vary.

Shipping is calculated at checkout, with a maximum courier charge of $15 (22kg maximum).
Free delivery is available for orders over $200

Incorrect Shipping Selection

If an incorrect shipping option is selected, we will contact you to arrange payment of the remaining postage required.

If we do not receive a response within 48 hours, the order will be cancelled and refunded minus any non-refundable payment processing fees.

Shipping is completed by Couriers Post and Australia Post. Note only Auspost can deliver to Parcel Lockers, Parcel Collect or PO Boxes.

Notifications:

You will receive a Shipment Confirmation email once your order has shipped containing your tracking number(s). The tracking number will be active within 24 hours.

Queries or questions about your order:

Please allow at least 2 business days after placing your order before contacting us. If you are unhappy with your order due to quality or a discrepancy, please email us and we will aim to resolve your issue.

Returns Policy

We want you to love your order from Botanic Balance.

General Policy
Our standard return period is 30 days from the date of purchase. Unfortunately, we can’t offer refunds or exchanges after 30 days.

Botanic Balance Skin Range
We understand that skincare can be personal and may take a little trial and error.

If your tallow-based skincare product didn’t work for you, you may return it within 14 days of receiving your order — no questions asked.
Please email hello@botanicbalance.com.au with your order details, and we’ll provide return instructions.
Return shipping is at your cost. Once received, we’ll issue a refund or exchange for the product purchase price (excluding shipping).

If the product is unopened and unused, you may still return it within 30 days under our standard policy.

General Products (NaturoBest, Power of 4, Nut Grocer, Cell Squared)
For health and safety reasons, all other products can only be returned if they are unopened, unused, and in re-saleable condition, or if found to be faulty or damaged on arrival.
Please contact us within 7 days of delivery if your item is faulty or incorrect so we can arrange a replacement or refund.

Shipping costs for returns are the responsibility of the customer, and original shipping fees are non-refundable.

Refunds

We will notify you once we’ve received and inspected your return and let you know if the refund was approved or not. If approved, you’ll be automatically refunded on your original payment method within 10 business days. Please remember it can take some time for your bank or credit card company to process and post the refund too.
